D-alpha tocopherol acetates

Alpha tocopherol acetate is commonly used in skincare products such as creams. It will not be oxidized and can penetrate the skin to reach live cells, of which about 5% will be converted into free tocopherol. It is said to have beneficial antioxidant effects. Alpha tocopherol acetate can be used as a substitute for tocopherol itself, as the phenolic hydroxyl group is blocked, providing products with lower acidity and longer shelf life.
